Hear & Now - Alba Sol 2xLP *
Hear & Now (Ricky L as Baffopizza as Hear & Now and Marcoradi - Hear & Now) are back for their second round on Claremont 56 with outstandingly beautiful ''Alba Sol''. Their first record, ''Aurora Baleare'' explored the development of the label consciousness of sound. ''Alba Sol'' steps further as they continue to cultivate and forge their own unique fusions to label's dimension.
The album opens with ''Alba Sol'', the personal highlight from label's recent compilation ''Claremont Editions'', that leads us to the laid back boom-bap beat and a menagerie of smooth instrumentation. A Balearic disco track simmering with energy throughout and featuring beautiful chords and textures that float into the track, ''Bellariva'' has a kind of a super hit attitude as its Satin Jackets and ''Figli Delle Stelle'' references are alluring. Polished ''Acqua Tonica'' is entwining itself with the transfixing guitar hook lifts you up with his outstanding euphoric moroder-ic nu-disco vibe, it looks like DJ this ''different'' social distance(d) summer pick and albums highlight. Coming next ''Polvese'' chill-out slow motion disco fare that entrances the listener straight away, it’s more Mediterranean than Balearic, strictly Italian as it is echoing like other familair Italian labels and producer which are offering the latest trend of my taste. Sunburned ''Danza Delle Onde'' is like the tune that any Café del Mar Ibiza, Mediterranean and sunset DJ must this summer play while the sun will disappeared into the orange coloured sea. “Larus” guitar and glittering piano combine their debut's kaleidoscope, new age and guitar fusion from the eighties with a slice of nineties on the rocks and served as double20's most fascinated cocktail. ''Litorale'' looks like remixed by Blank & Jones who sweet inspired by Soul II Soul's ''Happiness''. Italo disco, nu-disco, Balearic disco? I really don't care... ''Pioggia Sul Mare'' which is running out the album is another beauty, it's like early Dancing Fantasy's innocence, classic Ibiza chill out magic and Italian new age charm join forces to provide some light in the shadows of the double20's spring.
''Alba Sol'' is a powerful delivery, one of the best albums of the year and absolutely a desert island record for me. It's my sound, it's Mediterranean for you instead only Balearic For You. - DJ Nova, Balearic For You
