Cartagena! is the story of Jose Maria "Curro" Fuentes, youngest son of the family that founded Colombia's largest record label - Discos Fuentes. During his heyday from 1962-72 he produced many of the most important Colombian musicians and orchestras on his own Discos Curro imprint, and later as in-house producer for the Philips label. As 1970 approached, his hand-picked bands confidently mixed homegrown cumbias, porros and mapales with electric bass-driven hard salsa and descargas to create a moreunique, thunderous dancefloor sound heard all along Colombia's m Caribbean coast. Soundway present a handpicked selection of twenty of those legendary recordings released for the first time ever outside of Colombia.
