Enjoyable come back by Andrea Bennini’s Mop Mop project. The italian king of modern phychedelic jazz is back with a step forward and more soul and light in his new long player. Jazz standards are faithfully followed here and the result can satisfy for sure the listener. In the blender nu jazz, swing, funk, soul, latin, afro elements and the result is five star rated. Great percussions appeared everywhere and the sound of Andrea Bennini vibraphone are travelling us to exotic destinations. His recenlty remix on [re:jazz] ‘’Luv Connection gave the first taste of his new soul direction and the collaboration with Miss Baby Sol as singer gave the seeds of the blue eyed soul of ‘’Blue Sou’’ and acid jazz of ‘’Mr Know It All’’. The slowburing cosmopolitan funk of ‘’Ash’’ – the first single of the album - and the Swingin’ ‘’Destination’’ is flying high with Gianluca Petrella’s trombone, well known in nu jazz scene by his Schema appearances. The hidden disco of ‘’So High’’ and the indian blood of ‘’Naja Hare’’ are completes the puzzle with ‘’African Freedom’’ and ‘’Hot Pot’’ that are my fave moments of ‘’The Ritual Of Savage’’.
