RODON FM GUEST MIX SESSION
PAUL MURPHY
wwww.afroartrecords.com
Juju Orchestra “Hipness” Audiopharm .
A nice piece of Cannonball Adderleyness,
just the thing to get the evening off to a swinging start.
Paul Murphy “Soul Call” Afro Art.
A reworking of a single I released a couple of years ago.
Comes from my forthcoming album “The Trip”
finally to be released this year.
Alan Glen “Stone Fox Chase” Soundboy.
It’s the dub version of the Adrian Sherwood production.
Whispering Bob Harris on vocals too.. MMMM Nice..
Jose Mangual Jr. “Manteca 77” True Ventures
Jose Mangual Jr. “Manteca 77” True Ventures
Latin Jazz thrills n spills with son of Buyu.
DJ Angola “Rock This” Unreleased .
A remix I did a couple of years ago that never got released
for some kind of contractual reason or another.
It always gets people rocking though.
Sicania Soul “Life is a Tree” Irma.
A really tip top notch from The Rainer Truby Trio .
Very Worldwide & very worthwhile showing out.
Buddy Rich & Eric Delaney “Fragments” Studio 2 Stereo .
One of those mad little ones I love to drop every
now and again just to see people’s reactions.
Ray City Bowler “Shalala” Grande Buffo.
An amazingly grooving little mash up of Sookie Sookie
so beloved of top ‘90s Acid Jazzers US3 &
Kentucky Fried Chicken and stitched together
with some ace pop tazzler too.
Jazz Juice “The Kicker” Freestyle.
An excellent release from the label that’s given all dj’s
a way out of the current genre inhibiting mire.
Dutch courage from Graham B.
Danny Lewis “Ballistica” Defected.
The studio genius behind all those Spiritual South tunes
(Green Gold, Jazz Room , Happy etc etc) moved on
and up to a solo career and was snapped up by
Defected records. This is the Favela mix of his new release.
Yay Brasil!
Sly “Buttermilk” Autumn .
Family Stone man hadn’t broken through yet but
this is the deep voiced one before he hit it
big with the baby boomer generation.
Third World “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” Tappa .
Dub version of Whitfield classic and featuring Tappa Zukie too.
AIM “Smile” ATIC. Debut release by Manchester fave.
AIM “Smile” ATIC. Debut release by Manchester fave.
Very bouncy and cool.
Danny Lewis “Ghost Dog” Afro Art.
Before our boy wonder was lured away by fame and
fortune I managed to get one last track out of him.
And it’s a killer too, from our forthcoming “AFRO ARTHOUSE”
cd which is a compilation of new versions of our favorite
“ARTHOUSE” movie themes.
Guests include Kid Loco, Glyn Bigga Bush, Diesler,
Jung Collective and some of the tracks are “Withnail & I”,
“Goodbye Lenin”, “The Wicker Man” etc etc,
this is Dannys view of the theme from
the Jim Jarmusch film “Ghost Dog”.
DJ Farrapo & Yanez “Baiano Vem Baiano Vai” Afro Art.
I signed this band up while I was “on the road” on a dj trip to Italy.
An ace little Drum n Bossa 7 inch coming out on Afro Art in April.
This is the drum n b side.
Quantic Soul Orchestra “End Of The Road”. Tru Thoughts.
Not quite but it was for…
Wilson Pickett “Soul Dance 3” Atlantic.
Another LEGEND gone. And you can’t even say
he had a good innings but it was an eventful one.
At his peak the Wicked Pickett rocked harder than
The Rolling Stones, screamed louder than
James Brown and sold more records than The Beatles.
